NORTH BENNINGTON, Vt. — Some 70 people turned out on Tuesday, Aug. 3 for the first Shires Media Partnership community meeting — at the Park-McCullough House here.

Board members of Shires Media, the 501(c)3 nonprofit which owns/operates WBTN-AM, invited civic and “thought” leaders to the two hours of conversation and mingling with refreshments and food. “We want to know: How can we foster collaboration among local groups to share information and entertainment that will be fun, information and necessary — that will bring us together as citizens and residents?” noted one invitation.

The goal of Shires Media is to educate, inspire, entertain  and enrich the civic roles and lives of residents of Bennington and its surrounding area through independent, participatory, sustainable services that are highly valued by the community.  The organization does so directly through both traditional radio and, increasingly, through  other state-of-the-art and innovative electronic media.
