Audacity Basic Editing Tutorial
1. Audacity is a free audio editing software. Download Audacity at:
Windows: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Mac: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/mac
2.You will also need to download the LAME MP3 Encoder to work with MP3 files in Audacity. This can be done easily at: http://lame.sourceforge.net/
3.Our Olympus recorders record in WMA format but unfortunately Audacity does not know how to read this file. You will need to convert your audio file from WMA to WAV (recommended) or MP3 before importing into Audacity. You can do this easily online at: http://media.io/ At this site you’ll upload your file, convert it to WAV or MP3 and then download it onto your computer. Now you’re ready to open your file in Audacity.

Audacity → Preferences → Audio I/O
Playback Device → Built-in Output
Recording Device → Built-in Microphone (or select your external mic here if you are using one)
Quality:
Default Sample Rate: 44100HZ
Default Sample Format: 16-bit
Importing Audio
Project → Import Audio → Select File
Track Info
On left side of track you can individually effect each track.
Click on Mute to silence the track
Click on Solo to only hear that track
Click on down arrow to rename track
Move the volume cursor to turn the individual track volume up or down in relation to other tracks.
